Gum Treatment

Gum diseases, such as gingivitis and periodontitis, are chronic bacterial infections that affect the gum and bone supporting the teeth. Untreated gum disease will lead to tooth loss.

Curettage is a thorough cleaning of the root surfaces to remove plaque and calculus from deep gum pockets. Curettage smoothens the root of the tooth thus removing bacteria that produces harmful toxins. Research has shown that by creating a clean and smooth surface, the bone will reattach to the tooth.
