Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy with Merit (Nanyang Polytechnic)
Graduating in 2019 as a mature student, Amedah topped her cohort and won several accolades. She was awarded the Clinical Prize from the Singapore Dental Association, the Gold Medal from the Health Promotion Board and the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler Award.
Amedah serves on the committees of the Association for Oral Health Therapists Singapore and Special Care Dentistry Association Singapore. She aims to promote greater awareness and acceptance of Oral Health Therapy as a profession. She also hopes to bridge the 2 associations for more collaborative works.
To Amedah, becoming an Oral Health Therapist (OHT) was a dream come true. It all began with her first visit to the school dental clinic in her primary school years. She recalled that her dental therapist (then known as a dental nurse) was kind, patient and always ready to share tips on keeping the oral cavity in pristine condition. Over the years, her positive interactions with her dental nurse helped shape her ideals of the person she wanted to become. Those early memories constantly remind Amedah to become a better OHT, inspiring her to elevate oral hygiene awareness and care for as many people as possible.
On her off days, Amedah volunteers at a free dental clinic. She recharges herself by spending weekends and holidays with her family.
